Role Description:

Role description
Booking Holdings is currently undergoing a Finance Transformation initiative that will drive effective finance support for business management; promote strong governance and control in the organization; and have a world-class finance organization in terms of execution and efficiency. As part of this initiative, the Global Business Services team will provide centralized operational accounting processes from our Center of Excellence in Bucharest, Romania. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager , this role will be responsible for the regional company in Romania and will prepare the US GAAP and Statutory Reporting, Government Filing, VAT and Audit requirements for the Romania entity.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
  • Complete the monthly closing process for the regional entity, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, prepayments, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, detailed supporting analysis and relevant documentation, in accordance with US GAAP, local GAAP and compliance with both internal and external requirements.
  • Support for the reconciliation of the US GAAP vs local GAAPs
  • Work closely with Procurement, Accounting teams and external partners to ensure recorded accounting entries have proper supporting documentation that are in compliance with local statutory requirements related to VAT, WHT, CIT and that are accurately reflected in the statutory financial statements
  • Lead the completeness in due time of the various statutory compliance filings for the entity, including VAT, corporate tax returns, statutory financial statements, statistical reports, and other local statutory filings.
  • Identifying, handling and solving complex bottlenecks and issues and own final issue resolution for various statutory compliance filings
  • Drive the execution of the Engagement letter (ex. External Auditor Deloitte or Third party such as PWC)
  • Monitor and implement all government or local reporting requirements of the entity - CIT, WHT, dividends, TP, SAF-T, e-invoicing
  • Lead challenges for operational improvements with medium to high impact & complexity
  • Support Ad Hoc projects as needed (ex. One Source, ERP, automation etc.)

Role Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor degree
  • Specialized Diploma - Chartered Accountant
  • 5 - 8 years relevant job knowledge
  • Expertise in US GAAP/IFRS and SOX
  • Experience with VAT, Statutory Audit and Government Reporting
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA, OneSource, Workiva, OneStream, and BlackLine, preferred
  • Excel proficiency required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools, preferred
  • Diligent, strong analytical skills
  • Independence in preparing management reports for target audience
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment
  • Accountability and Trust. Unquestionable integrity and ethics
  • Expertise in preparing for and participating in meetings with collaborators across global teams, managing expectations of others by setting realistic objectives and deadlines, escalation paths
  • Independence in reviewing the work of others and improving operational processes through standardization or automation
  • Strong personal initiative, enthusiasm, results orientation, and resourcefulness
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within cross-functional teams and resolve issues
