Your ability to interact with your car's computer system might be pre-determined by its YNA. Yazaki North America (YNA) is a leading supplier of wiring harnesses and other electronic components for the automotive industry. A subsidiary of diversified Japanese manufacturer Yazaki Corporation, Yazaki North America also offers junction boxes; controls for power distribution, terminals, and connections; in-vehicle networks; fiber optics; and vehicle instrumentation. The increasing sophistication of automotive electronics has driven demand for the company's in-vehicle power and data networks. Customers include leading auto manufacturers and parts suppliers.
While the company's in-vehicle power and automotive data network technology increased, the automotive industry production volumes decreased. In late 2009 the company closed its Mitsubishi Motors supplier plant in Illinois based on the drop in Mitsubishi's US sales the prior year. It also closed its distribution and sales office and moved operations to Columbus, Ohio.
Some of Yazaki North America's major customers include DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Honda, and Toyota. Yazaki North America is #11 on the list of GM's unsecured creditors -- to a tune of over $18 million -- and it is unclear if it will be paid what it was owed prior to the bankruptcy filing.
In the fast-paced world of automotive technologies, YNA continues to stay competitive through the development of new and innovative products. One of the company's more recent products is its trademarked IntelliTow, a small device that monitors the electrical system of trailers and other towable vehicles. It can diagnose problems with fuses, wiring, and lights, and relay the information back to the driver in real-time.
The company has also had some success as a result of the increase in hybrid vehicles. YNA has supplied electrical components for Ford's Escape Hybrid, and it inked a deal to provide high voltage connections systems and wiring for the 2009 Ford Fusion Hybrid. In the past the company has provided complete Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) for Ford's F150 pick-up trucks. YNA has developed the technology for the in-dash displays of the Cadillac DeVille, Mitsubishi Endeavor, and the Toyota Prius.
Yazaki North America began operations in 1966. The company operates 20 facilities throughout North America. It has over 80 manufacturing operations in almost 30 countries on six continents. – mai puţin
